Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
An overview of HBOT — pure oxygen, pressurized comfort, and time-tested clinical applications.
What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) involves breathing pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. During a session, air pressure is increased up to three times higher than normal air pressure, allowing your lungs to absorb far more oxygen than would be possible breathing at normal atmospheric pressure. That oxygen-rich blood circulates throughout the body to support its natural healing processes.
What is a hyperbaric chamber?
New Hope Vitality uses monoplace chambers — single-patient, transparent tubes designed for comfort and precision. Compared with multi-person chambers, the open, clear design helps reduce feelings of claustrophobia while giving our team precise control over your session.
What is a hyperbaric chamber used for?
Hyperbaric medicine has a long clinical history. Common uses include:
- Decompression sickness ("the bends")
- Severe anemia
- Carbon monoxide poisoning
- Crush injuries
- Skin grafts and flaps
- Thermal burns
FDA-approved applications
The FDA recognizes more than a dozen approved applications for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, including air embolism, gas gangrene, necrotizing soft tissue infections, and delayed radiation injury.
